World Stick Appraisal Bureau

A formal appraisal
for the stick you found.

How it works

Just snap it and submit.

Nothing complicated. Found one on a walk? Send it in exactly as it is.

Photograph it

Any natural stick found outdoors. Declare where you found it and provenance is weighed in.

The AI appraises

Five axes: material, silhouette, weathering, ergonomics, provenance. Your certificate takes seconds.

Filed in your codex

The card goes into your private codex. Whether to publish it is entirely your call.

What is on the card

An ordinary branch becomes a sacred relic.

A kanji title

Drawn from Shinto and Japanese myth, and always written in kanji. No two sticks are alike, so no two names are either.

Four stats

Attack, Magic, Durability and Weight, each out of 100. Their sum is the total power, out of 400.

A special move

A finishing move only this stick can use. The more embarrassing it is to read aloud, the better the appraisal.

A resident kami

Following the idea of 八百万の神 — the myriad gods — a deity matching the stick's element and form dwells within it.

Common Rare Epic Legendary

Rarity is decided purely by published thresholds on the total power. The same score always earns the same rank.

Things to do

The fun starts after the verdict.

Show it off

Save or share the card as an image. Pull a divine-tier stick and you will not be able to keep quiet.

List it in the public gallery

Only cards you choose to publish appear there — and there is a ranking by total power.

Pay respect

Send respect to another member's stick, and see how much respect your own has earned.

Request a re-appraisal

Not convinced? Roll again. It may go down as well as up, and it cannot be undone.

Before you enlist

Frequently asked

Does it cost anything?

No. You get 3 free appraisals a day. Used them all? Come back tomorrow — good sticks do not run away.

What can be appraised?

Natural sticks found outdoors — branch, driftwood, bamboo, root, vine or bark. Weathered, broken and dirty are all welcome. Manufactured articles such as pens or chopsticks, food and living creatures are turned away at intake.

Does it work on iPhone?

Yes. Just open it in Safari — no install needed. Tap Share and "Add to Home Screen" to launch it full-screen like an app. Android also has a Play Store version.

Will my photos be made public?

No. Your codex is visible only to you. Only cards you explicitly choose to publish appear in the public gallery. Location metadata is stripped from photos on upload.

What languages are supported?

Japanese, English and Spanish. The title, special move and resident kami are always inscribed in Japanese kanji, whatever your language.
